WINGS-KK Hospital Confinement Nanny Training Programme
What is it?
The WINGS-KK Hospital Confinement Nanny Training Programme is the first of its kind by a leading maternity hospital and a non-profit organisation in Singapore. It is created to provide women aged 40 and older new skills, thereby enabling them to play a larger role in society. They can choose to apply these new skills in their own homes for their families or work part-time as a confinement nanny.
What is the purpose of this programme?
· Raise quality of post-natal care of mothers and babies in Singapore
· Create opportunity for mature women who want to work as trained confinement nannies.
What are the topics covered in the training?
Complete postnatal mother and baby care, breastfeeding techniques and healthy confinement cooking. Trainees will learn skills such as how to bathe a newborn baby, cord care and nappy changing; how to sterilise feeding bottles and assist new mothers in breast feeding using various positions. Learn about Chinese Herbs and cook confinement food dishes. And effective time management as a confinement nanny.
What is the duration of the training?
The training will be conducted over a 4-day period.
Who can participate?
· Women over 40 years old
· Singaporean/Singaporean PR/Malaysian
· WINGS member (WINGS membership is S$10 per year)
· Understand English as the course will be conducted in English
· Has basic cooking skills
How long has this programme been running?
The programme was first launched in October 2009. The first training course ran from 12 to 16 October 2009. End March 2010 was the second run and 28 - 31 March 2011 was the third run. Our last run was 5 - 8 September 2011.
When is the next course?
The next intake is scheduled in March 2012.
