1-3 April 2011 - Active Ageing Carnival 2011
On 1 April, WINGS Belly dance group participated at the AAC, Suntec City Convention Centre.
Peggy Ong, Chia Sai Hong, Angela Sim, Farizan Mohd, Doreen Cheong, Wong Siew Lan, Tan Ah Pin, Alice Neo, Patricia Goh, Alice Siew, Mei Cumin, Nancy Chow, Sim Yong Yeong, Margaret Lee, Susannah Chia, Jolly Lim, Lillian Goh and Donna Chiang were the volunteer dancers at the event. Special thanks to our Belly dance instructor, Ruby Tan for spending time and effort in grooming the group.
19 & 20 March 2011 - HPB Stay Healthy, Feel Young
Our talented ladies from the Tai Chi group performed at the HPB event on 19 March at the open field next to Woodlands Civic Centre. Rose Chai, Angelia Cheng, Eileen Chan, Stephanie Kwok, Lee Bee Lor, Leong Yuk Song, Low Swang Hiang, Pearl Mao, Linda Quan, Margaret Teo, Toh Hoo Yee, Wang Seow Leng, Yieu Mei Moon, Patricia Chan, Jamaliyah, Vivian Ku, Lee Peik Hiong, Loh Wan Thai, Melina Seah, Florence Chan, Audrey Chia, Foo Jee Lin, Jane Koh, Seet Siew Khim and Chris Wan were the volunteer performers at the event on Saturday. Special thanks to Jasmine Koh, Tai Chi instructor for spending time and efforts grooming the group.
Rani Seelan, Thoo Lay Hah, Alice Chua, Eliza Koh, Catherine Lim, Joanna Han, Juliet Loke, Sally Tan and Chua Pheng Sok were volunteers in charge of the WINGS booth and helped us to publicise our programmes and services.
2010
8 & 9 Oct 2010 - World Mental Health Day
WINGS participated at the World Mental Health Day organised by Health Promotion Board at the Marina Square Central Atrium (Level 2). The guest of honour was Mr Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary (MOH & MOM). Our volunteers helped us to take care of the booth and interest members of the public on the game of Sudoku to challenge their minds.
29 May 2010 - Expectations
WINGS was the beneficiary of Expectations, a muscial charity production at Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel. The Guest of Honour was Dr Kanwaljit Soin, President of WINGS. The musical was written, directed and produced by Lim Kay Siu and Angie Monksfield. Songs and music by Lim Kay Siu and August Lim. The charity show was well-attended. We also had a very special guest, Sister Teresa Hsu at the event. Thanks for your support!
22 May 2010 - S'pore Council of Women's Organisation (SCWO) Health Fair
WINGS participated at SCWO Health Fair on a Saturday. May Tan and her group of volunteers were at their booth to sell handmade craft items like the Sayang babies, bread baskets. The fair was crowded as there was free health screening and the participants get to attend health talk too.
3 & 4 April 2010 - Active Ageing Festival (AAF)
WINGS participated at the AAF event held at Suntec City Convention. We were assisted by our helpful volunteers promoting WINGS membership and programmes at our centre. The Bond workbook was also sold at the event. Our ladies from the Belly dance group performed on Sun 4 April.
31 March 2010 - SCWO 30th anniversary
Our ladies from the Belly dance group made us proud when they performed at the SCWO Gala event. In the audience were Mrs S R Nathan, Minister Mrs.Lim Hwee Hua and Minister of State, Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon.

25 July 09 - Kebun Baru Wellness carnival
WINGS participated in the recent Kebun Baru wellness carnival at the Kebun Baru Community centre. A range of interesting activities like Healthy Lifestyle exercises, food exhibitions, games, stage performances were held at the event for senior citizens and their family members. The aim of the carnival was to encourage inter-generation bonding and senior citizens to participate actively. Mr Lim Boon Heng, Deputy Chairman of People’s Association and Minister of Prime Minister’s Office graced the event.
20 & 21 June 09 - Active Ageing Carnival 2009
The annual active ageing carnival was held at Suntec City Mall recently. WINGS was one of the partners at the event. We had our booth just outside Carrefore Supermarket. Our lovely ladies from the Belly dance group performed on Sunday afternoon to an appreciative audience.
The event was graced by Mr Lim Boon Heng, Deputy Chairman of People's Association and Minister of Prime Minister's Office, Mr Lim Boon Heng. The objective of the event is to create positive perceptions of ageing by presenting to the seniors the many interesting lifestyle opportunities and activities open to them, provide a platform to interest group to showcase the programs/services and engage the seniors and partner with tenants of Suntec City Mall to create F&B products, service choices and opportunities for the target audience of the mall and the carnival.
1 March 09 - PAWINS
PA Women's Integration Network Council organised International Women's Day celebration on Sunday 1 March 2009 at HDB Hub, Toa Payoh. The theme of the celebration was "women heloing women". WINGS was among one of the organisations invited that offer programs and services to women. Other organisations include NTUC Women's Development Secretariat, Singapore Heart Foundation, Breast Cancer Foundation, Healthy Times Magazines, Weworktz. The event was graced by Guest of Honor, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and 2nd Minister for Defence. Dr Amy Khor, Advisor to WIN Council and WIN Council members put up a lion dance performance in front of an appreciative audience.
10 & 11 Jan 09 - 50+Singapore Expo
WINGS participated in the recent 50+Singapore Expo event held at the Suntec City Convention Centre. This is the largest 50+ event in the region and it featured 6 Thematic Pavilions on Health, Living, Innovation, Sports & Games, Travel & Holidays and Finance. The visitors learn more about the products and services available in the market from the different vendors, attended public forums presented by expert speakers covering topics on health, beauty, finance, wellness, travel, learning & technology.
Our lovely ladies from the Belly dance and Taichi groups performed on Sunday 11 Jan with grace and confidence. Volunteers Kiat Kiat, Rohanis, Siew Eng, and Nancy from the Planning committee assisted us to decorate our booth in the Health Pavilion which drew quite a good response from the crowd. Our volunteers also helped us to sell handicraft items and promoted our programs and services to the public.
3 Jan 09 - Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC CCC Bursary cum Family Carnival
WINGS together with 5 other VWOs participated in the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC CCC Bursary award ceremony. The recipients and their family members were treated to tea reception at the family carnival. The event's guests of honor were Mr Wong Kan Seng, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Home Affairs & MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education & Senior Minister for Defence, MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, MPs and advisors to Bishan-Toa Payoh GROs: Mrs Josephine Teo, Mr Hiri Jumar Nair and Mr Zainudin Nordin, Mayor of Central Singapore District. WINGS Health educator, Susanna taught the students and their family members how to read Food Labels while WINGS staff were engaged in membership recruitment. The event was well attended by 1200 people and at the end of the day, they had a lucky draw.

12 Dec 08 - Year-end potluck
WINGS held its annual year-end party for our members. 45 members gathered for an afternoon of food, laughter and entertainment. We had a good lunch as there was a good selection of food (both homecooked or ourchased) and treats by our generous attendees. Our members, Janet, Angel & Jolene spontaneously belt out Mandarin oldies and took requests from the group. At the end of the day, tokens of appreciation were given to these lovely ladies. Hope to see everyone next year. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone!
15 Nov 08 - Eye Screening Visit
20 members participated in the Singapore National Eye Centre's (SNEC) 9th National Eye Care day. There was free eye screening held on this day at SNEC. Our members aged 45 years and above were entitled to the free eye screening checks done on a Saturday morning. Thank you everyone for participating in this event and we will see you next year.
12 Oct 08 - Active Ageing Roadshow
WINGS participated at the Central Community Development Council's Active Ageing Road show on 12 Oct. The event was held at Fort Canning Park on a hot Sunday morning. Mayor Zainudin Nordin and Mr Heng Chee How, Minister of State (PMO) were Guests of Honour at the event. More than 1,000 people participated in the mass walk around the park. WINGS together with other VWOs had a booth at the park and we actively promoted WINGS membership and programs.
26 Sept 08 - Volunteer Appreciation Night
A total of 36 volunteers attended the Volunteer Appreciation Night on Friday 26 Sept 08. Our 2 very special guests were Grandma Mary & Ms Stowe (American Women's Association). Dr Soin (WINGS President) and some members of WINGS Mgt committee (Shirley, Varadha, Corinnna, Wan Joo) took time out from their busy schedule to join us in honour of our volunteers. We gave out special awards to our dedicated volunteers namely Ms Gloria Keh (Trainer), Ms Seet Siew Khim, Reiko, Mrs Nellie Row, Ms Rosalind Wong and Ms Nellie Tan for their contributions to WINGS. Our guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner and interacted with fellow volunteers. Thank you all for attending & see you next year!
18 & 19 Sept 08 - The Fair@Grand Hyatt
The Fair@Grand Hyatt, Scotts Road was held recently at Magnolia & Vanda Function Rooms (Level 3). There was a wide variety of unique gifts for family and loved ones like home decor, antiques, arts and crafts, fashion jewellery and collectibles. Women@WINGS, a WINGS co-operative sold beautiful baby blankets made of batik, handphone pouches, cross stitched purses, bags, samsui dolls and many more. If you missed going to The Fair this month, please look out for future events in our newsletter. Our volunteers, Poh Kum, Yee Mui and Kim Eng assisted WINGS MC members, Li Mei & Poh Choo during the 2 day event. A warm thank you to Nancy Khoo, Maryanne & Mary Cheong for helping to sew some of the craft items.
23 & 24 August 08 - Active Ageing Carnival 2008
This year's event was held at Ngee Ann City, Civic Plaza (11am-9pm). The theme for the carnival was "Doing it Our way! - Active Ageing, Active Living" WINGS together with several VWOs had a booth at the Orchard Pedestrian walkway. Our three lovely volunteers, Kim Lai, Poh Kum and Yee Mui assisted us to distribute WINGS programs and brochures at the booth despite the heavy downpour in the late afternoon. Our ladies from the taichi group gave a splendid performance of Taijiquan, Taichi Sword, martial qigong and Gungfu Fan to an appreciative audience. Well done ladies and instructor, Ms Jasmine Koh for your effort and hard work!
5 July 08 - Mass CPR exercise
WINGS staff and some members participated in the Mass CPR exercise at the 39th SMA National Medical Convention on "Prevention of sudden cardiac death: perception and reality" . Venue: Raffles City Convention centre. We learn basic CPR skills that will equip us with a life-saving skills to our family members and build a safer community.
10 & 11 April 08 - The Fair
WINGS participated in The Fair held at The Grand Hyatt on 10 & 11 April. The event showcased various craft, home décor, etc. Crafts from our handicraft group headed by Mrs. Nellie Row and items done by Ms Leong Seey Seey were very well received. Thank you ladies for your support!
7 & 8 March 08 - Seniors Fair 2008
Seniors Fair – jointly organized by Central CDC & NVPC at the Toa Payoh HDB Hub was a great success. Our ladies from the Taichi & Qigong groups gave a splendid demonstration under the guidance of Ms Jasmine Koh. Dr. Kanwaljit Soin, President of WINGS and Ms Tan Soo Yuin, WINGS’ Counselor spoke on “Successful Ageing” and “Anger Management” respectively. Mrs Nellie Row and her team from the handi craft group patiently taught the interested visitors how to make towel holders, and our 23 volunteers at the WINGS booth sold many handicraft items. Well Done everyone and thank you for your contributions!
13 Feb 08 - Lunar New Year potluck
WINGS celebrated Chinese New Year with a potluck session on 13 Feb 08. Members brought along homecooked food and goodies to share during the event. Siew Eng, graduate from Tsao Foundation's Senior Talkshop Program shared with the members her experiences undergoing the training with Tsao Foundation & also gave our members tips on how to age successfully. With good food, nice company and new found friends, what else could we ask for? Thank you everyone for your effort & team spirit!
12 & 13 Jan 08 - SICEX2008
WINGS participated in the Silver Industry Conference and Exhibition (SICEX2008) on 12 & 13 Jan 2008 at Suntec City Convention Halls 401 and 402. Our ladies from the Taichi (FAN) group performed on 12 Jan, 2pm at the Council for 3rd Age pavilion - Well done! ladies and making WINGS proud. Thank you to all our members who had taken time to drop by the C3A Pavilion to give our ladies your support.
The event was a showcase for senior-related products, services and programs and visitors could participate in Healthcare & wellness, travel & leisure, financial and technology zones. We hope that everyone took the opportunity to be pledge to be an active ager or had gotten yourself a free glittering tattoo. Ministers Lim Boon Heng, Vivian Balakrishnan & Minister of State, Mrs. Yu-Foo Yee Shoon were the Guests of Honor for the 2-day event which drew more than 300 conference delegates and 100,000 consumer visitors from Singapore and around the world.

28 Nov 07 - Volunteer Appreciation Night
A BIG Thank-you to all our volunteers who attended the Volunteer Appreciation Night! Laughter, Interaction and a sumptuous spread were the main ingredients for the evening. Our volunteers joined Ms Subina, volunteer trainer for Bollywood Dancercise in a short laughter therapy session and Ms Grace Hwang, a long-serving volunteer shared that she liked the cosy environment at WINGS and the approachable nature of its staff. More importantly she added that she believed in the WINGS philosophy in helping women to age successfully. Our distinguished guests were Ms Moy Yin (National Volunteer Philanthropy Centre) and Dr Kanwaljit Soin. At the end of the evening, our volunteers went home with a goodie bag and Appreciation certificate for their contributions
18 Nov 07 - Active Ageing Festival
On a bright and sunny Sunday, WINGS participated in the Active Ageing festival @Dhoby Ghaut. The theme of the Active Ageing is about optimising opportunities for living meangful and fulfilling lives. It enables us to maintain an active lifestyle as well as to age with dignity as integral members of our society. It also provides us with choices to live life meaningfully as possible within the 6 dimensions of wellness. Our talented 13 ladies from the WINGS Taichi group performed "Gong Fa", Yang style Taichi and "Kung Fu Fan" with grace and poise to an appreciative audience. 3 other volunteers helped us to man the WINGS Booth with the staff and we sold some of the handicrafts made by the handicraft group.
10 Nov 07 - Life! Congress 2007
WINGS participated in the Life! Congress 2007 held at Sheraton Towers. The event was targeted at health conscious adults 40 years and above who desire to stay healthy physically & mentally as well as to keep themselves socially engaged. The guest of honour was Mr Gerard Ee, Chairman of Council for Third Age.
19 Sept 07 - Members' night
43 members gathered at WINGS new training room located at Unit 05-03 to celebrate the mid-autumn festival. Poh Siew Choo & Jennifer Lee shared with other members on what means to them and the various activities they had participated since August 2006. Dr Kanwaljit Soin gave the opening address to our members. The evening was filled with games, healthy mooncakes and a sumptuous dinner for all present. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable.
1 & 2 Sep 07 - Active Ageing @North East
The event "Living Lives, Bonding Ties" was held at Hougang during the 2-day event. Our volunteers helped to man the booth and sold handicraft items. Ms Constance Singam gave a talk on "Successful Ageing" at the Aljunied Town Council's badminton hall.

18 Jul 07 - IWF 10th Anniversary Fund-Raising Dinner
The Singapore Chapter of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) celebrated their 10th Anniversary with a gala gourmet dinner produced by 16 Top Chefs to raise funds for WINGS. Guest of Honour was Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Mrs Lee. It was a grand evening and IWF raised $400,000 for WINGS. Thank you IWF!

13-15 Jul 07 - Prime Magazine 1st Anniversary Road Show
The 3-day Road Show as held at Millenia Walk, and WINGS Members performed beautifully once again, showing off their Tai Chi, Belly Dancing and Shapexercise Moves.
25 Apr 07 - Volunteer Appreciation Night
Although it was raining ‘cats & dogs’, 49 Volunteers turned up for the event. They were given and update on WINGS, and a presentation on “Gender & Ageing” by Ms Constance Singam. Certificates of Appreciation were given to our wonderful volunteers, and they were also given a “Thank You” Token courtesy of NCSS.

14 Apr 07 - Wyeth Forum
The Forum, titled, “Changing Nutrition Requirements for Optimum Health & Ageing” was held at the Singapore Power Auditorium. WINGS participated by manning a booth at the Forum.
25 Mar 07 - SingHealth Women’s Forum
The Theme for the forum was “Fabulous from 40”, and it was held at the Raffles City Convention Centre. WINGS had a booth beside SCWO.
23 Mar 07 - ComCare Local Network Launch
Central CDC launched The ComCare Local Networks (CLN) with a dinner at the Ang Mo Kio Central Stage. Their theme was “Hope and Opportunities”, and the purpose for the formation was to create a platform where social service agencies, volunteers, grassroots organizations and other service providers can have a more coordinated information and referral process. WINGS manned a booth at this event where the Guest of Honor was Prime Minister Mr. Lee Hsien Loong
10 Mar 07 - SCWO’s International Women’s Day Carnival
In addition to the booth that was manned by our 9 volunteers, our Members once again showed off their performing skills by demonstrating their TaiChi Qigong moves, the supple Belly Dancing and Chair Yoga.

25-27 Jan 07 - Senior’s Fair
The Senior’s Fair was held at the HDB Hub at Toa Payoh to promote active ageing. “Incandescence”, a group of final year students of NTU headed by Ms Charlene Han, planned and coordinated the 3-day event. Titling it “Glow (acronym for “Glittering Lives of Women”) with WINGS” they did a wonderful job with the planning of the event right down to the activities that were held there. Our Members did us proud when they did their various performances – The Chair Yoga Group, The Belly Dancers, The Tai Chi women and the Mass Household Workout Team. Bravo to our Lovely Ladies and Thank you Incandescence!

3 Nov 06 - “One Central” Open House
“One Central” – The name was coined by the committee that was set up to plan the joint open house of all the VWO’s in Bishan Junction 8 Office Tower. Mr. Zainudin Nordin, Mayor for Central CDC & MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC was Guest of Honour, and he announced at the opening the launch the local network of VWOs in the Central CDC area.

15 Oct 06 - Anlene Fair
WINGS participated in the Anlene Fair at Hall 6 of the Singapore Expo Convention Centre. The objective of the events was to promote greater awareness about Osteoporosis, and our very own Dr. Kanwaljit Soin was one of the speakers that spoke “Osteoporosis and Bone Nutrition. Our 12 amazing volunteers managed to recruit many new members for WINGS.

11 Oct 06 - The Maisie Chow-Tsao Commemoration Ceremony
The Maisie Chow-Tsao Studio was officially commemorated in the WINGS Centre, and present at this commemoration ceremony was 81 years old Mrs Chow-Tsao herself who flew in from Hong Kong to attend the ceremony. During the commemoration ceremony, a donation of $200,000 in honour of his beloved wife, Mrs Maisie Chow-Tsao, was made to WINGS by Tan Sri Frank Tsao, Chairman of Suntec City Development & father of Dr. Mary Ann Tsao.

10 Sep 06 - The Red Cross Bazaar
The Annual Red Cross Bazaar was held at the Thai Embassy. Although there was a downpour for the most part of the day, it was well attended. WINGS participated by having a ‘stall’ where our 9 active volunteers gamely recruited new members for WINGS.

15 Dec 06 - PA Delegation
As part of their “Active Ageing in Singapore” training program, the participants consisting of Senior Officers from Community Clubs in Singapore visited WINGS to be briefed on WINGS programs and outreach.
25 Aug 06 - IWF Members
As part of their regular lunch-time talks, the Members of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) visited WINGS to take a look at the premises and be briefed about WINGS plans and programs. The delegation was headed by Mrs Laura Hwang, President of IWF.
21 Aug 06 - Grassroots Leaders
Grassroots Leaders from Toa Payoh South CC, Toa Payoh East CC, Thomson CC, Nee Soon South CC and the Kebun Baru CC, headed by MP Ms Josephine Teo visited WINGS, where they were briefed on the programs and avenues for collaboration.
