The Bond

The Bond Project is an intergenerational initiative by WINGS, supported by the Council for Third Age and the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports. It is a special project for children and their grandparents, with additional participation from their parents and other family members encouraged. The Bond Workbook records their thoughts, feelings, and interesting facts about their family, their heritage and their legacy. We hope that families will enjoy the time of bonding as they work through it and the Bond Workbook will serve as a reminder of their unforgetable time together in the past and the present, and as a precious memento for the future.

WHAT The Bond Project is made up of 3 parts: The Bond Workbook and the The Bond Workshop and The Bond Exhibition.

The Bond Workbook is a fun and interactive tool to encourage a  grandparent and a grandchild to work together to explore their family tree, family traditions, mementos, family recipes, family special occasions, family values,  environmental issues and much more. Children will need to actively interact with their grandparents, parents and other family members in order to complete the workbook. Each workbook is unique as the grandchild and grandparent complete it with their own personal information and stories. It then becomes a precious physical record of the individuals involved, their family ties and their traditions.

The Bond Workbook is published in English. It is a colourful 48 -page wire bound hardcover book, measuring 25 cm x 25 cm, and printed on environmentally friendly paper using soy-based inks. The Bond Project is supported by Council for Third Age and the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.

WHO Parents or grandparents (or other family members) can purchase The Bond Workbook as a gift for a child and his/her grandparent.

WHY The Bond Workbook project aims to:

  • Increase intergenerational interaction and bonding by providing a structured framework for a child and grandparent to explore their family ties and traditions.
  • Stimulate children and grandparents to inquire and learn more about their own families and family history, and create a lasting record.
  • Provide a wholesome, meaningful and environmentally friendly gift that grandparents can present to their grandchildren or vice versa.
