This new workshop aims to equip women with knowledge and skills in enhancing their physical and mental wellness as they move into their senior years. Dementia Care

This foundational course aims to equip caregivers or persons interested to provide care to persons with dementia, as a volunteer or a community care staff with the knowledge to help them understand what is dementia and skills to manage the day-to day interactions with persons with dementia. Participants will also learn ways to take care of themselves as well as get an overview of the various resources available to support them in their journey as a caregiver for persons with dementia. Participants will:
a) attain basic skills and knowledge on dementia care-giving to improve quality of care and reduce care work stress;
b) learn about the meaning and importance of “Person Centred Care” through activities, they will apply basic skills to engage care recipients using strategies and activities taught in class to interact with persons with dementia and address areas of care eg: cognitive, behavioural symptoms to improve quality of care;
c) learn about common health and safety issues pertaining to dementia clients and strategies to ensure prevention, timely detection, escalation and/or interventions.

With the increasingly fast-paced and rapidly changing working and living environment in Singapore, many adults are facing stress, lack of engagement and diminishing sense of well-being in life and at the workplace. This course aims to empower women to embrace and thrive over challenges that come with ageing at work, at home and in life to enhance their well-being and effectiveness.

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course

The Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course is an empirically-supported 8-week psycho-education course that teaches a variety of mindfulness practices as health intervention and prevention. It is the first form of secular mindfulness course brought into the health setting by Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in the late 1970s. The course is now practiced by people from all walks of life who wish to lead a more purposeful and fulfilling life with greater sense of balance, ease and choices.

Carmen Teo spent the first 15 years of her career in the corporate sector and had consulted for some of the largest F&B and Hospitality firms in the world. She started her mindfulness journey in the US in 2007 which accompanied her through a burnout and gradually transformed her into a mind-body practitioner since 2012.

Carmen is a versatile and highly qualified trainer being trained to teach MBSR under UC San Diego’s Center for Mindfulness, Workplace Mindfulness under TME (spin-off from Oxford Mindfulness Center), the .b program under MiSP, and Mindfulness for K-12 under Mindful Schools. Advanced Creative Writing: One Step Beyond, Taking Your Writing to the Next Level

Take your writing, thinking and presentation skills to the next level. Those who have already experienced the Writing Through methodology are now invited to expand their skills through immersion in an Advanced Writing Through workshop. Push your writing to new limits through more difficult challenges, and expand your poetry and prose with an eye to possible publication – and all through the fun and gentle guidance of Writing Trough’s most experienced facilitators. Like the Creative Writing with Writing Through workshop, you will share your work and celebrate your accomplishments together. Each participant will receive a printed magazine, which includes all the authors’ works from the workshop. Each lesson is approximately 90 minutes long and builds on the previous session.

The Art of Decoupage

Decoupage is the art of decorating objects with paper cut-outs and paint effects. These cut-outs are glued to the surface and several coats of varnish are applied to give it a lacquered finish. The finished products are so stunning that they are often mistaken to be professionally painted.   At the end of this workshop participants will find a new hobby/interest.

Tell Your Life Story with Electronic Scrapbook

The focus of the class is to empower participants with the life-long skill of scrap-booking to record precious moments in creating an electronic scrapbook with pictures on their mobile phones that will be turned into a slideshow, and in the process, allow them to rediscover themselves.

In this workshop, you will:
– Understand the concept of theme, planning and design layout.
– Understand the basic concepts of mobile photography, photos organisation and collage-making as essential elements of electronic scrapbook creation.

Trainer: Orchid Creative

Orchid Creative’s founder Cheong Lai Siong is an independent IT consultant, coach and facilitator. Leveraging on her 30 years of corporate management experience in the areas of IT and Business in a MNC. She had developed a methodology to help people to reflect, discover and formulate their own transformation agenda, using design thinking concept and digital tools such as photo journal and scrapbook. Join this workshop to equip yourself with the basic knowledge of Digital Photography and the efficiency of handling a digital camera.
Session 1 — Classroom: Getting familiar with the camera and learning the basics of photography and composition (WINGS)
Session 2 — Classroom: Learning to edit photos either in apps or alternatives to Adobe Photoshop(WINGS)
Session 3 — Outdoor: Learning to shoot landscapes and getting good landscape images (Start of Jubilee Bridge on Esplanade’s side )

A self-taught photographer, has been shooting for 17 years. Being passionate about photography, he spends a lot of time learning and honing his craft. He has a broad range of experience from being a photography instructor in schools for 8 years, to shooting for high key events for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Home Team News. His works were published on Minister’s Facebook page as well as The Straits Times.

Image Grooming

Learn how to groom with style suitable for your lifestyle and line of work in today’s society. Participants will be taught on proper grooming etiquette and appropriate dressing accessories and colour coordination for various occasions as well as basic skincare & makeup (no hands-on).

A certified Image Consultant by profession, Irene specializes in personal/corporate grooming, deportment, etiquette, style & colour analysis, makeup, anti-ageing, general wellness and skincare. In addition to wearing the dual hat of an Image Consultant and Beauty Pageant Trainer, Irene is also an Executive member of the International Beauty and Image Consultants Association (IBICA) and is engaged by the Association to help conduct educational seminars, conferences, and training workshops in the beauty, image and wellness industries.
