Retirement is a good time to explore new interests and self-improvement.  WINGS Client Yip Pick Yu made the most of the time she had after her children were all grown up to pick up digital skills. She attended WINGS’ Digital Ties That Bind workshops to acquire digital skills such as hosting her own Zoom meetings, producing her legacy video, creating a family website and more.

We happy to be part of her digital journey. Read Digital for Life’s post on Pick Yu’s experience and be inspired too!

The Straits Times: Some courses for seniors will still be eligible for SkillsFuture Credit (22 July 2022)

SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) has given the assurance that it will work with organisations like the National Silver Academy to identify courses for seniors which will continue to be eligible for SkillsFuture Credits, even if they are non-certifiable.

Toh Swee Chin, Director of Public Engagement (SSG) said this in response to a letter published in The Straits Times on 16 Jul 2022. In that letter, Rachel Tan Wee Cho, a WINGS Client, had voiced concern over a recent government announcement that workers will no longer get SSG subsidies for non-certifiable courses in 2024.  She had highlighted how such courses provided by non-profit organisations like Society for WINGS keep the elderly engaged and occupied.

Thank you, Rachel, for making your voice heard!

On behalf of our seniors, WIINGS thank you too, SSG, for your assurance!
